This six-strand, rattan lounge chair features square pretzel arms and a Classic stacked base. Restored to new for you. This was made by Ritts co, Tropitan , Herb Sr. and Shirley Ritts. Shirley was an American interior designer, furniture designer, and Movie Art Director, their company helped to popularize rattan furniture in the United States during the 1940s thru 1960s. Shirley Ritts was the mother of photographer and music video director, Herb Ritts Jr..Shirley Ritts was born in Baltimore, Maryland on October 28, 1920. Herb Ritts Sr. also invented the "S springs" under the cushions in the early 50's You see them on a lot of different rattan items in the 40's though the 70's The Ritts's were a giant in the Rattan Industry as was Paul Laszlo, Paul Frankl, and C.W. Fishbeck of Tropical Sun Rattan of Pasadena (started 1905) All rattan, bamboo, and wicker furniture has been painstakingly refurbished to the highest standards with the best materials. All refinishing is done by rattan workers with over 20 years of experience in rattan refinishing.
