Mid-century pink and green ceramic flamingo tabletop California art pottery planter, signed Will-George. The planter features a beautifully detailed pink flamingo that sits directly on the table. It comes in a gloss finish that highlights the rich pinks, greens, and white accents. Bio The Will-George company was founded in 1934 by William and George Climes in William's Los Angeles garage. The brothers manufactured high-quality artware of porcelain and earthenware. In the late thirties, their work came to the attention of actor Edgar Bergen, who was impressed enough to finance their business. With the new backing, Will-George moved to a larger facility in Pasadena. There, they produced an extensive line of art pottery, including very popular bird and animal figurines of exceptional quality. In 1945, they became The Claysmiths, and in 1947 became famous for their limited 200 Flamingo figure run, personally commissioned by gangster Bugsy Siegel for his new Las Vegas Flamingo Hotel and Casino opening.
