TV Lamps are a particularly iconic type of vintage home decor. Manufactured primarily in the 1950's and early 60's these little lamps were designed to sit on top of the television and shine against the wall behind it to cast a soft glow to alleviate the eye strain of viewing in a darkened room. Highly decorative, TV Lamps came in a variety of shapes and themes, but are most commonly glazed ceramic with some painted details. This particular lamp features a grey horse prancing down a country lane. The light is finished in a high-gloss steel grey glaze, with deep relief details allowing the natural ceramic to show through as a contrasting highlight. It takes a standard size E26 base light bulb, and was cast to allow conversion to a standard table lamp.
