This is one of the iconic barkcloth patterns of the 1940s. It came in several colorways -- red, chartreuse, brown, blue, and black. The design is of two egrets surrounded by swirling water in fantastic colors of lime, forest, and chocolate. This pillow-sized piece was cut from a reclaimed curtain and has overall fading. I would estimate the fading at 5 percent, as this panel still shows most of the original chartreuse in the wings and was never displayed. Unframed 23" X 46" This Tapestry is by Spectrum and is commonly called Egret.
