The following is a portrait of Herb Ritts by Irene Borger for Architectural Digest's November 1994 issue.

Herb Ritts and his wife Shirley designed and manufactured rattan furniture from the late 1930s - 1990s in Los Angeles, CA. Herb not only designed the furniture, he also invented many of the processes still utilized today to form rattan into unique shapes. He offered lifetime guarantees on all of his products because of how well he manufactured them, making them extremely collectible today. Herb and Shirley were also the parents of celebrated photographer, Herb Ritts, who worked in their Los Angeles store as a young man.
