Mid-century Sarome 'Cruiser' lighter, shaped like a Cruise ship, features a chrome body enameled red and crème accents and "Queen of Tsawwassen" lettering. It includes a thumb striker, a windproof mechanism, and decorative portholes in its original box. This particular piece showcases a blue and ivory wrap printed on both sides with "M.V. Queen of Tsawwassen." Launched in the 1960s, the M.V. Queen of Tsawwassen was one of the original BC Ferries. The underside bears the markings "Sarome Cruiser," while "JAPAN" is stamped into the chrome on the ship's side.
The Segawa Manufacturing Company of Japan (Sarome) produced approximately eleven different lighter models in the 1950s and 1960s, including this figural "Sarome Cruiser," circa 1966. Designed to resemble a ship, the Cruiser featured various patterns and "bow" colors, with this version being the "windproof" model. It includes a slotted windscreen to shield the wick and decorative portholes along the sides of the thumb striker.
The lighter comes with its original Sarome cardboard box.
Marked "Sarome Cruiser" and "JAPAN," this 3¼" collectible is perfect for maritime and vintage lighter enthusiasts.
